Ghana’s Olympic Committee has announced a 16-member contingent to represent the country at the Rio 2016 Olympic Games.
Ghana will present 16 first time Olympians at the games officially named the‘Games of the XXXI Olympiad’.
The contingent will comprise 11 track and field athletes, two swimmers, one weightlifter, one judoka and one boxer.
The track and field team is made up of six individual qualifiers : Flings Owusu-Agyapong (100m), Janet Amponsah (200m), John Ampomah (Javelin), Emmanuel Dasor (200m), Alex Amankwah (800m), and Sean Safo-Antwi (100m) and the 15th-placed women’s 4×100m relay team to be selected from Gemma Acheampong, Beatrice Gyaman, Dorcas Gyimah, Persis William-Mensah, and Akua Obeng-Akrofi.
Kaya Forson and Abeiku Jackson (Swimming), Christian Amoah (Weightlifting), Szandra Szogedi (Judo) and Abdul Wahid Omar (Boxing) make up the rest of the athletes in the contingent.
